Today’s blog entry features a very special event for our client Zack and his family. Last spring, Zack celebrated his bar mitzvah, a coming of age ritual in the Jewish faith. According to tradition, when a boy turns 13, he becomes accountable for his actions and is called to the torah. The young man bears responsibility for participating in all aspects of Jewish community life, including ritual law, tradition and ethics. By the time a boy turns 13, he has studied many aspects of Hebrew and Judaism and the torah. With such preparation for the ceremony done, afterwards, it’s time to celebrate his achievements.

And that’s where our Morgan Events team comes into the picture. It was an honor to create a memorable celebration for Zack and his family from start to finish. Following the traditional bar mitzvah ceremony and lunch, our team designed and styled the ‘After Party’ for Zack and his friends.  Zack wanted us to create a fun, high-energy nightclub. Think neon lights, super sweet treats, dancing and lots of activities. Anything you can dream, we can design!

We started with a grand entrance to the nightclub: a neon-lit tunnel leading into the after party. Upon entering the ballroom, guests could see the dimly lit interior with pops of neon lights, swanky velvet furniture, and a custom lit dance floor. Two large bars flanked the nightclub – signature mocktails at Bar 13 for Zack and his friends and signature cocktails at Bar 21 for the adults. Continuous fun activities were on-hand for entertainment, including neon foosball tables, an interactive photo booth, virtual reality (VR) game box station, and a graffiti art station customizing smartphone cases for all guests. As for sweet treats, all of Zack’s favorites were included on our custom neon-lit dessert station: Psycho donuts (Cereal Killer and Kooky Monster flavors), tiramisu, fruit sorbets, and mini Krispy Kreme donuts paired with glass milk bottles, accented with LED straws.

After the cocktail reception, we designated time to focus on Zack and his family, honoring traditional customs of the Kiddush, Motzi and Candle Lighting Ceremony.  Zack took center stage with his father and grandfather to start the ceremonies.  Along with heartfelt speeches, Zack and select family members performed a special candle lighting ceremony to further note the symbolic nature of the bar mitzvah occasion.

After the blessings, guests continued with dinner – kids at their food stations and adults were treated to a seated dinner.  Following dinner, guests were invited back into the VIP room to view a montage of Zack’s life – oohs, ahhhs and laughter came from the crowd as those family members and friends shared memories flashing on the big screen.

The fabulous DJ and dance crew of Aaron David Productions provided hours of entertainment and spectacle. They kept adults and teens alike moving and grooving all evening long. Adding to the fun and excitement on the dance floor, we organized glow sticks, horah chair lift and a spectacular balloon drop to surprise and delight all the guests. By the end of the evening, it was time to close our pop-up nightclub and send guests home with a little thank you gift for attending the bar mitzvah celebration- neon sunglasses and custom illuminated neon jackets with Zack’s club logo.

We hope you enjoy checking out all the fun from Zack’s custom designed bar mitzvah ‘after party’ in the images below. If you’d like to see our design for a custom bat mitzvah celebration, check out our blog entry featuring Club SK.

There’s one day each year that we all have the same thing happen. You know what it is. You think about it every so often as you reflect on what you’re doing and where you’re going in life. When seasons change and you begin a countdown. The months get shorter and before you know it, it’s your big day. That’s right, it’s your BIRTHDAY! The one day each year that can be all about YOU! Now imagine your birthday this year is going to be one of those milestones… 16, 21, 40, 75… These birthdays call for a special celebration. What are you going to do? A quiet dinner at your favorite neighborhood spot, a party on a yacht, an Alaskan backpacking adventure? Or maybe you’d like something really special but something you can invite people too without making a big fuss. Perhaps a throwback to a certain decade or carefree time in your life. Well that’s exactly what our clients Jill and Matt decided to do.

The dynamic husband and wife duo were both having a big milestone birthday last year. The big 4-0. It used to be that when you turned 40, the standard party theme was “over the hill.” Countless decorations and balloons were made in shades of black and gray; canes, tombstones and ugly graphics of cartoon elderly people were the norm. Modern times call for change and Jill and Matt’s party was so far from this idea that it should set the trend for 40th birthday parties to come. Our team planned the event from start to finish, executing all the details that the couple wanted in their celebration. The celebration started with a delicious, seasonal family style dinner in their backyard. Fresh floral arrangements, top notch catering, wine pairings. Sophisticated yet casual and intimate. And then it was really time to party. It was a birthday party after all! Jill and Matt are such a fun couple so we planned lots of fun festivities. Teams divided up for games of flip cup, shots were poured down an ice luge, a costume box was raided, open air photo booth and a silent disco kept the dance floor full and the party going all night long. And just as planned, there was absolutely nothing “over the hill” about this 40th birthday celebration. Here’s to celebrating four decades of fun! Happy Birthday Jill and Matt!

At Morgan Events, we love planning life celebrations. Those milestone birthdays, anniversary parties, baby showers… if there’s a celebration, we make it happen. Today’s blog entry features a very special life celebration… a sweet young lady’s bat mitzvah bash. We first met little Sophia back when she was a 1 year old flower girl in her aunt’s wedding which we planned and designed. So it was such an honor when her family called to say little Sophia was all grown up and being called to the torah.

If you’re not familiar with the bar/bat mitzvah celebration, it is a Jewish coming of age ritual for boys/girls at the age of twelve years. This is the age at which the young boy/girl has reached religious maturity and is considered a full-fledged member of the Jewish community. And certainly achieving this milestone is definitely worth celebrating!

For Sophia’s bat mitzvah bash, the decor scheme was inspired by a chic nightclub atmosphere. We transformed a ballroom space at the Claremont Club & Spa – A Fairmont Hotel into a sleek, modern yet fun night club aka “Club SK”.

The club entrance was lined with hot pink velvet ropes and a seamless hot pink carpet – fuchsia uplights transformed the walls and created a club-style entry. Inside the ballroom, we used swanky white leather sofas adorned with bright pillows to add stylish and comfortable lounge seating for kids and grown ups alike. Hot pink, fuchsia and gold set the color palette, fitting for a vibrant young lady with a sparkling personality. The tables were sleek glass, paired with acrylic ghost chairs for a very modern ambiance. Along with a trio of satellite floral arrangements and floating candles, tables were topped with clear glass orchid-filled lamps and set with gold chargers, fuchsia napkins and custom printed menus. But perhaps the most special area of the ballroom was the VIP suite. This section was reserved for Sophia’s VIPs and of course, no adults allowed.

A few other details that made the event unique included a magnetic acrylic escort card display; a blooming custom pink floral paper wall photo booth with fun props; a custom engraving station; a sweet Sophia donut bar and a sweet endings candy bar; and of course let’s not forget about the custom monogramed bars – a VIP Suite Bar for the VIPs and Bar 21 for those adult over 21. Throughout the evening, kids and adults alike were entertained by Aaron David and his amazing team of dancers and emcees. Continuous dancing, food and fun throughout the evening made Club SK the “best celebration ever” for our sweet Sophia! We are so proud of you! Mazel Tov!

We hope you enjoy viewing the photos of Club SK, open for one night only! Special thanks to our team who created such a memorable celebration for Sophia, her family and friends.

At Morgan Events, we believe in celebrating life to the fullest. How many days go by so quickly that we forget to stop and pay attention to all the details that make life grand? One of the best ways to celebrate life is to start with the milestones. That’s right, we’re talking about birthdays. Birthdays don’t have to be about getting older; they can be celebrations of life’s little journeys that we achieve along the way. Remember the excitement of turning 16 and finally getting a driver’s license? Or turning 30 and realizing the pieces of your life are falling nicely into place? Well, we salute you! Celebrate those birthday milestones! Might we suggest a destination birthday bash? Our client Darren (whose wedding we planned back in 2014) decided years in advance that when it came time for his 40th birthday, he wanted an all out celebration with his nearest and dearest in the City of Light. That’s right, buckle your seatbelts, we’re taking you to Paris!

The theme for Darren’s Parisian Birthday Bash was Ready, Set Jet! We captured the travel element of the event in a very simple phrase. We then set ourselves to task planning and executing the event from start to finish, and managed local logistics for traveling guests. The design theme was fun and fabulous, just like Darren. Colors and patterns were inspired by the 1970’s and specifically, the fashions of Emilio Pucci. Our concept took a modern twist to a retro design.

So, are you ready to jet? Check out all the details below and get inspired to plan your next destination birthday bash.

Special thanks to our amazing client, Darren & Brian and to the team that made Darren’s Parisian 40th Birthday Bash a most memorable celebration.

Nestled in the hills above Marin County with views of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, a family estate garden was the perfect setting for Leslie and Josh’s engagement celebration. Design inspiration flowed from the natural garden setting, lush greens and breathtaking landscape. The summer color palette was determined by amethyst, Leslie’s favorite color, while chartreuse, soft white and spring green complemented the surrounding environment. Our goal was to blend design elements to enhance the existing beauty of the property. The tables were topped with a variety of seasonal white blooms including orchids, peonies, freesias, verbena. Green parrot tulips, cabbage flowers and snow peas added a fresh garden appeal.

The engagement celebration was a festive affair for the couple’s closest friends and family. While working in an outdoor space, we wanted to create an intimate atmosphere for their nearest and dearest to mix and mingle in a casual and relaxed environment. And what better way to bring people together than over delectable dishes? Componere Fine Catering was up for the challenge. Working inside the home’s spacious kitchen, the catering team put forth a menu that was playful and fun to keep the atmosphere light and casual. Service began with passed petite-sized bites that encouraged sampling while mingling. This nod to the couple’s preference for bite-sized comfort foods was a great way to start the evening. The canapés menu included delights such as petite fish tacos with lime and mango, petite grilled cheese paired with heirloom tomato soup and mini sliders on brioche rolls with cones of pommes frites. For dinner, a selection of summer dishes was served and the dessert round presented petite strawberry shortcake, frozen chocolate malt kulfi topped with crushed caramel corn and hot crispy valrhona chocolate banana wontons served with vanilla bean milkshake shooters.

As the sun began to set and the candles illuminated the garden, the engagement celebration for Leslie and Josh came to an end. But for us, it was just the beginning of a wonderful year during which we had the privilege of planning their next life celebration….their wedding!
